What Exactly Are Porcelain Pavers ?

Porcelain stoneware is characterized by a very low water absorption of less than 0.5%. Thus porcelain stoneware is a further development of stoneware tiles, whose water absorption lies under 3%. Porcelain stoneware is manufactured by dry-pressing fine processed ceramic raw materials with large proportions of quartz, feldspar and other fluxes under high pressure. Afterwards, the body is baked at high temperatures in a roller passage kiln.

Great for Outdoor Applications

Due to its high breaking and wear resistance properties porcelain, stoneware is often used in public areas and areas outdoors, where wear conditions are particularly extreme. The outstanding feature of porcelain stoneware slabs is their composition. This is a product with a vitrified structure, low porosity and the ability to resist external agents, guaranteeing high impermeability to acids, dirt and frost. These porcelain stoneware floors and coverings are non-slip, abrasion and fire-resistant and comply with current international standards. This stoneware is ideal for installation in residential and public settings, even on intense foot and heavy traffic flooring, where they guarantee excellent durability over time and allow you to personalize any environment in the perfect way.

Benefits & Features of Porcelain Pavers

Stain Resistant

Unlike other paving materials including concrete, natural stone and wood, the non-porous surface and body of porcelain pavers means that liquids, oils or chemical spills can’t penetrate, so can be simply wiped or washed off. Porcelain pavers are even resistant to weak acids and bases.

Hard Wearing & Scratch Resistant

Porcelain is an exceptionally dense and hard material which resists scratching and marking by most objects so can be used in areas subject to high foot traffic and where tables and chairs will be used such as outdoor restaurants and bars.

Unlike more porous materials including natural stone and concrete, water cannot penetrate the interior of porcelain pavers, so they won’t suffer freeze/thaw cracking in snowy and icy conditions making them ideal for even the most severe climatic zones.

Mold & Mildew Resistant

The non-porous surface and body of porcelain stoneware discourages the growth of mold and mildew and can be easily washed off with water.

Slip Resistant

With a textured surface and ultra-low porosity that encourages quick draining and drying, porcelain pavers easily meet most slip resistant requirements for both home use or public spaces.

Fade Resistant

Colored pigments are effectively baked into the pavers at a temperature of over 1200°C, becoming part of the overall composition, so porcelain pavers do not suffer from fading due to the sun.

Low Maintenance

There’s no need to apply sealers or protective coatings to porcelain pavers or set up ongoing maintenance programs. Just a quick wash with water from time to time to remove debris and organic matter (grass, soil, leaves etc.) is all that’s normally required to keep them in top condition.

Unlike wood tiles, porcelain tiles are completely fireproof so provide an ideal paving solution, especially for rooftop decks where strict fire regulations may apply.

Like Stone but Tougher

Due to modern manufacturing techniques, porcelain pavers can be produced in colors and textures making them virtually indistinguishable from natural stone, typically also with superior strength for equal thickness plus freedom from staining and freeze/thaw cracking.

High Load Bearing

Porcelain pavers are much tougher, denser and stronger than standard ceramic tiles so can be used on adjustable height pedestals supported on each corner only for exterior raised flooring and rooftop decks. Much more cost effective than grating or grid support structures.

Lighter Than Stone or Concrete

Porcelain pavers are lighter than both concrete and natural stone such as granite, making them easier to transport and install than more traditional patio paver products.

Numerous Installation Options

Porcelain stoneware is a versatile solution in terms of installation techniques and destinations of use. These can be installed in the dry-system onto grass, gravel or sand, with raised installation or adhesive installation, and represent the perfect and eco-friendly solution for outdoor flooring of private and public spaces.

The dry installation allows for the positioning of the slabs directly onto substrates in grass, gravel or sand to create pedestrian pathways that can be immediately walked upon. Easy and quick, this type of application does not require the use of adhesive or the intervention of specialized laying technicians.
The raised installation for outdoor application allows for the creation of a technical gap of variable height between the substrate and the foot plan. It can be replaced and inspected at any time without damaging the surface and allows irrigation systems, pipes and lighting systems to be concealed.
The ideal laying solution for outdoor driveways, car parks, garage ramps, as the laid surface is extremely resistant to both dynamic and concentrated loads. Expansion joints are required, and the gaps between the tiles must be filled with cement-based grout.
