I love using concrete. It’s so clean and gives an industrial vibe.  In the above picture, the drill holes add to the industrial effect, making the wall look put together by craftsmen with intense power tools.

However, the design takes the industrial feel and makes it cozier.  The chandelier makes it warm.  Where the drill holes make the walls look rugged, the chandelier gives the impression that a dainty person placed the chandelier and added a nice bright vibe with the light bulbs.

The whole area mixes different feels– warm and cold.

Together, it completes the entire look.

We examined how concrete can range from it’s rugged industrial nature to a more calm and bright feel.  Now, I want to look at the use of concrete in a playful way.  Concrete lends itself to sparks of inspiration.  Like the above picture, the concrete walls work well with painted images, tapestries and other art forms.  Not only does this incorporate beauty with the painted flowers, but it is the right amount of accent that a harsh cement wall needs. The industrial vibe of the cement wall is beautiful in it’s own way, but too much of it can be overwhelming.
This concrete flower wall is the exact opposite of the previous post! There is no harshness in this design. You can still tell it is a concrete style wall, but the oversized flower gives such a soft accent. What’s interesting is the type of flower being used on the wall. The previous post has a flower with long, pointed petals and a vibrant red tone. This flower has thicker, canopy petals with a soft white neutral hue. Perfect for a bathroom, while our previous post is perfect for an entry way or parlor.
